Missing the mountains
Missing the mountains and the process of nature photography in general ... here is an image from the Jungfrau region in Switzerland taken in October 2009. Hope to return someday soon.
The Golden Side …
From a walk in Hyde Park two weeks ago in London, on a sunny spring afternoon:

The Golden Side of the Light
Light's direction changes so much of it's perception.

What do I lay my eyes on?

Though I love details ... I like to keep the essence simple. Another example:

I’m off for one week …
After some delays with Iceland playing true to it's paradox, I'm now off to visit family in Haifa, Israel and to spend quality time in these two Holy Places:
There are a couple of planned updates whilst I'm away (which I hope you enjoy) and, hopefully, even better work on my return!
May your orange blossoms be redolent of fragrance …
Life has afforded me a few free moments to capture dusk scenes the last two nights.

Of Primrose Hill It Can Be Said
Fleet of thought
Last week's walk through Hyde Park led me past Lancaster Gate on the way home. A fountain there drew my eye and, whilst taking images of the water, a flock of pigeons descended on the water. As I stepped back to grab a different image they scattered - as luck would have it an idea twigged and they returned to let the vision unfold:

Of Malaria …
This part combines my passion for my work (as a physician) and love of good photography. Malaria has essentially been eliminated from Europe, Russia, Canada and the United States. Despite huge efforts however it has become resurgent in large parts of Asia and strikes dead between 1-3 million of the mainly young and weak in Sub-Saharan Africa each year, with cerebral Falciparum Malaria being a significant contributor to that total despite the availability of effective treatments. Education has an essential role in the campaign against Malaria, with good photography having it's role. This article in the New York Times describes one photographer's approach:

A Morning’s Walk
Prompted by a brief power outage this morning I was driven out the door and took a walk down the road to the National Gallery. Whilst I'm not an art scholar by any stretch, I enjoy spending my time observing the work of these masters of light, often just a few pieces at a time. Indeed this morning's viewings (centered on Dutch Masters of the 16th and 17th century) has me hoping to try my own photographic hand at portraits and still life's with simple plays on light.
Postcards in no way related, but taken on the walk this morning:

Admittedly though I very much miss true nature, the pleasantries of this morning's walk remind how lucky I am to be living in the beauty that is this city on a sunny spring day morning.
At the moment …
Getting the feeling that ...

Ideas often escape me ... (Hyde Park yesterday)
Hopefully it's the process that makes the journey and destination worthwhile.
